Construction nails

Slate nails can be different from normal building nails because they must have a different (stronger, galvanised) head and larger dimensions. The standard size of a slate nail is between 70 and 120 mm, and its main material is galvanised iron, which does not corrode. The choice of nail also depends on other factors, such as the height of the slate ridges. Consider the height of the slate, it must be such that by penetrating the slate and the board batten, the nail can also be bent. Calculate this figure and choose the ideal length, it is better to take the nail slightly longer than normal. Another recommendation when choosing a nail is its ability to hold moisture. This means that the nail head must not allow rain to penetrate under the roof, but we also recommend installing a rubber gasket under the nail head in addition.
